While the previous WordPress instance served well as a website, it was time for a digital generational change. The goal: a web presence that not only describes the company's innovative spirit, but also makes it a tangible technical experience.
Away from the standard, toward the experience
Instead of a traditional home page, GK Grünenfelder welcomes visitors with "GK World," an interactive 3D map. Created using the latest technology in this field, this element offers a playful introduction to the company's complex subject areas. Clickable hotspots allow users to navigate intuitively through the locations and areas of expertise. This interactive approach sets the company apart from its competitors and leaves a lasting impression.

Insights
The technological core: performance without compromise
Behind GK Grünenfelder's modern interface beats a technical heart that is consistently designed for future-proofing. For the first time, we have pursued a headless approach here, strictly separating the backend from the frontend. The headless CMS Strapi serves as the central content management system, giving editors maximum freedom in data maintenance, while the frontend is based on Next.js. By using TypeScript and React in combination with Tailwind CSS and other libraries, we were able to create a code base that is not only low-maintenance but also optimized for speed.
The technological highlight is the interactive 3D map on the home page: using Three.js, we have created a high-performance WebGL environment that visualizes complex spatial data directly in the browser. This modern tech stack ensures that the site remains extremely high-performance despite the demanding visual elements and offers a flawless user experience on any device. The entire project was realized in-house by our team in Altstätten, Muri AG, and Lützelflüh, from the initial UX sketch to the final programming.
