More than just a new name.
The Haubensak winery is history, the company is now called Weingut Zünd AG. Admittedly: This is not the first name change in the history of the company, which was founded in 1880. The wine merchant Schachtler was followed by the company Haubensak-Schachtler, which became Heini Haubensak Weine a few decades later, then Altstätter Reben und Wein AG and now Weingut Zünd AG.
It quickly became clear that a new 'brand' together with a logo, distinguishing features etc. had to be created. The aim was to integrate the Zünd family coat of arms, but also to create symbols for the individual wines. A range of wines for the younger target group was also to be added;)

A universe was created in joint workshops with the owner family and the client's core team. The various elements such as the name, logo, figurative mark and, of course, the label were then created from this.
The coat of arms in the logo was created from the 4 letters in the name Zünd. The Ü-dots were included as a design element. The lime leaf stands for nature and has a special meaning for the winery as well as for the owner family.
Flown to the moon
The range was expanded with a wine line for the young target group. TO THE MOON AND BACK, a young, cheeky and sexy name for a wine line, which we thought of on the plane to Berlin and which seemed perfect for the three newcomers. Yes, they fit seamlessly into the Zünd brand identity.
The lime tree - the trademark
There are many stories, myths and legends surrounding the lime tree. The Germanic tribes regarded the lime tree as a sacred tree. It was dedicated to the goddess Freya, the goddess of happiness, love, beauty and justice. In the past, the lime tree was often planted in the center of the village. People would meet under the canopy of the lime tree to exchange news. And people danced under it at village festivals and weddings. The lime tree is the tree of conviviality. Where people meet and parties are celebrated, people often have a glass of wine.
In front of the main building of the Zünd winery stands an old, large and very beautiful, protected lime tree. It points the way to the vinotheque, where guests are always welcome. Working together with Nadine Kehl, we used a simple printing process to print leaves from the lime tree. Together with the logo, the leaf is highly recognizable.
Honestly, it was a wonderful assignment that really involved everything in terms of creating a new identity. The fact that we were able to expand the creativity with craftsmanship, work with symbols from a family crest, mixed with very modern claims, made it an exciting project for us, with a great outcome, we think. You too?
